The Zamfara State Police Command has confirmed that five Muslim worshippers were killed and several others abducted following an attack on a mosque in Yandoto community, Tsafe Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar, revealed this in a phone interview with journalists on Saturday.
He explained that the assault took place during morning prayers when armed bandits invaded the mosque, killing five people, injuring many, and kidnapping numerous worshippers.
“The attackers reportedly surrounded the mosque, locked it from outside, and opened fire on those praying inside,” Abubakar stated
He further noted that the injured have been taken to Gusau General Hospital for medical care, while the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Tsafe is compiling a full report on the number of abductees for submission to the command headquarters.
