Three Fulani Travellers Killed in Plateau State Attack
Three Muslim Fulani men have been reportedly killed on October 8, 2025, in Kantoma, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State. The victims, who were travelling in a commercial vehicle, were reported to have been attacked by suspected members of the Mangavul farmers’ militia.
Witnesses alleged that the men were targeted because of their ethnic identity, though authorities have not yet confirmed the motive or made any arrests.

The latest incident adds to a series of violent attacks that have affected Muslim travellers and residents in the Mangu area in recent months. The region, which has experienced recurring clashes between farming and herding communities, has seen several road ambushes and reprisal killings since mid-2024. Human rights groups have repeatedly called for stronger security measures along major routes linking Mangu to Jos and Pankshin, describing the area as increasingly unsafe for both commuters and rural communities.
Local leaders have condemned the killings and urged security agencies to intensify patrols to prevent further violence. Community representatives have also appealed for calm and called for dialogue to address the underlying ethnic and land-use tensions that continue to fuel unrest in the area.
